TObs (formerly known as Wavefront) started as a startup over six years ago, and through acquisition and growth has turned into a team of over 120 people developing a massively scalable SaaS service.As a Director of Engineering:You will lead teams of engineers through a transformation from a startup to the next order of magnitude organization.You will contribute to the transitioning and forming of top-notch DevOps culture in a rapid releasing environment of cloud-scale observability SaaS solution.You will be building strong management and technical leadership by growing and mentoring managers and technical leaders.But most of all, you'll be expected to help set a culture of continuous learning and improving, of innovation, of ownership and collaborationThis is a unique opportunity to lead a high-performance software team spread across the world to build the cornerstone of the Tanzu portfolio.What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?You will be expected to build and run multiple SaaS software engineering teams with a focus on software delivery, resiliency, and customer happiness.You will be expected to build an ever-learning organization where everyone feels comfortable to call out issues, to propose new ideas, and to learn with peers. An organization with a focus on individual and team growth and wellbeing.On the technical side, you will be expected to guide the team through a challenging transformation from a tightly coupled service architecture to a truly distributed service architecture while keeping scale, resiliency, and feature delivery throughout the processYou will also be expected to build and grow technical and managerial leadership with a culture of mentorship and open communicationSuccess in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?Success in this role will be:Teams in your organization can efficiently deliver against clearly defined team commitments while keeping a high bar of deliverables quality and resiliencyTeam members in your organization feeling empowered to raise concerns, taking ownership of fixing and improving process, software, and production impedimentsTObs itself grows more than 30% as measured by pps, but the number of production incidents goes down, the Mean Time to Resolution of failures goes down, and the escaped defect rate goes down.What is the leadership like for this role?
